Portugal’s renewable energies and green hydrogen ambitions
Portugal is aiming for a 47 percent share of renewables in its final energy use by 2030, across all sectors, not just the power sector. It is targeting up to 2.5GW of green hydrogen capacity by the end of the decade to further the decarbonisation of heat and transport.
Billions of Euros of private investment is already flowing into Portugal for various energy and in particular green hydrogen project.
There is huge potential for solar to help drive down production costs through cheap power generation.
With several sectors being targeted within the energy industry for long term investments, Portugal is becoming a major destination for these particular investment opportunities.
